singaporeans

singaporeans are our main consumers

Supply of local produce can only be increased if it is met by a corresponding increase in demand for it. They are also our labourers. In order to expand the agriculture sector, we need more capable hands and innovative minds to develop the industry. They play an irreplaceable role in shaping the supply and demand of local produce.

From our survey conducted of 200 respondents, most answered that they preferred high-tech agricultural solutions.

how they benefit

Project Obo would promote market acceptance of novel farming methodology and technology beyond our own, whilst revealing common misconceptions about agriculture.

Government agencies are determining

They play a crucial hand in encouraging innovation and mould Singapore's agricultural industry. With the right policies and initiatives, they influence the consumer market to choose local and facilitate the development of local farming businesses.

how they benefit

Project Obo directly helps circumvent the issue of land use, helping local farms and government agencies incorporate the best of urban farming practices and technology to maximise the yield and efficiency that can be extracted out of the smallest space possible.

government agencies

local farming businesses

the engines of singapore's food production

They are the engines for Singapore's food production. Without them, Singapore will not have any local produce.

They also function as early adopters who roll out and continue developing new agricultural practices and technology to maximise farm yields, given our limited land space.

how they benefit

  1. Water functions as a natural greenhouse and thus, no energy cost is required to mitigate temperature fluctuations (United States Geological Survey, n.d.)

  2. Land-based pests are cut off from the plants so there will no sources of pesticide contamination (Fabbrocino, 2021)

  3. Plants are more aromatic when grown in pressurised environments (Pistelli et al., 2019)

they push the boundaries

They are the innovators and researches who push the boundaries of what is known and familiar.

They are the ones who create new technology and techniques that could vastly improve farming standards or even, revolutionise urban agriculture as we know it. Keeping up with their works would keep us ahead of the curve.

how they benefit

Project Obo's compact farming domes can be harnessed as test beds for the latest technology, creating a mutually beneficial relationship between local farming companies and agritech startups.
